What is Chiropractic?

What is chiropractic anyway?

To be honest it took me a while to figure it out even after I was in practice.

The word chiropractic means chiro- “hand” -practic “a preson concerned with action or practice. In other words down by hand.

In this article, I will attempt to transmit to you my understanding of what chiropractic is after 11 years of practice.

To answer this question, a foundation of understanding must be made.  There are several components that we must first define.

  1. What are you?

  2. What is your objective?

  3. What causes dis-ease?

  4. What heals?

  5. What contributes to your health?

Let’s dig in:

You may not be sure who - or what - you really are, but we can agree on one thing: you're something permanent and independent that serves as the source of everything. We could call it energy if science is your go-to voice of authority; religionists might refer to this entity as "God." Of course, neither side has an exact answer for what God/Energy actually is...so feel free to pick a label that works best for YOU!

What are you? This is debatable, but for the sake of this post, lets identify the real you as that which is permanent, does not depend on anything else to exist, and is the source of everything.  You can call that thing what ever you want because honestly nobody knows what it is.  Two popular authorities on the subject would be scientists who call it energy or theologians who call it god.  Neither one of these authorities knows what god or energy IS, so call it whatever you want.

Everyone has energy, a vast untapped potential inside them. Energy can't be created or destroyed but does transform into different forms - including the human body! Within this "meat suit" we have both physical structures and self-imposed limitations that prevent us from maximizing our expression of potential. But make no mistake – if you were able to fully tap your power, it would be enough to create an entire universe! That's quite something for those of us still in our meagre mortal frames…

If you want to truly glow, then any form of distress or imbalance is likely standing in your way. Emotional, mental and spiritual blockages can be particularly troublesome - not forgetting physical traumas or infections entering the body too! Take steps now towards eliminating anything that's preventing your desired shine; it will certainly take a little commitment but trust me when I say emphatically: It'll absolutely be worth it!

Have you ever wondered what it takes to heal from wounds, injuries or other forms of trauma? The answer is simple: YOU! While external resources can provide assistance in the healing process and doctors act as teachers along your journey back to health - ultimately, it's up to you. It may be hard work that lies ahead but by trusting yourself and removing any stressors blocking the road towards better balance physical & mental ease will soon follow.

This book provides a fantastic blueprint on how to effectively cultivate physical and mental wellbeing - from eating nutrient-rich foods, getting adequate rest, exercising regularly through to managing stress levels. What about CHIROPRACTIC? Well, chiropractic means done by hand, and as a chiropractor, my main objective is to help remove interference from your ability to thrive.  The care involves adjustments to the spine that are performed to help restore your ease and flow through your nervous system.  Chiropractic adjustments do not heal your body, your body heals its self, they are simply a tool to help you out.

Chiropractic can be a complex topic to understand, which is why it's important to start with the basics – once you have the general concept down pat then everything else will become much clearer.
