Q: What kind of clinic is this?
A: We hear this question a lot as people pass by the sign painted on our storefront window. We intentionally left the word ‘chiropractic’ out of our clinic name. We wanted the title of our office to remain open in order to let the practice evolve and include different forms of care. Primarily the office is a chiropractic office, Nick practices the latest and most advanced techniques of chiropractic: Applied Kinesiology, Chiropractic Neurology, and Functional Medicine.
Q: How is this different from other chiropractors I have seen?
A: Dr. Nick takes time. He uses three different techniques and correlates exam findings from all three techniques to best diagnose multiple body systems that could be contributing to presenting health issues. He works with the structural alignment of the spine, as all chiropractors do, but he also works with muscles to make sure all are working at full function. Most importantly, Nick works with brain balancing to make sure all hemispheres of the brain are firing. He also consults blood labs to work with nutrition and supplementation. These different techniques work together to support various systems of the body in order to provide the body with what it needs to heal itself.
Q: What is included in the first exam?
A: You will begin the process by filling out a health questionare form that will be emailed to you before the first visit. This form will provide an understanding of your current symptoms, personal history, and health goals.
Your first appointment will be an hour and a half. During this appointment you will discuss the reasons you are seeking care and go through the questionnaire you filled out. Dr. Wirtz will conduct a thorough examination from which he will be able to determine a diagnosis. At the end of the appointment, Dr. Wirtz will apply therapies based on your exam findings. Additional information may be needed, such as laboratory panels (blood, urine or saliva) or x-rays. You will be able to ask any questions you may have.
Once you clearly understand your case and diagnosis, customized treatment will be recommended which will include intervals of office visits, dietary recommendations and supplementations. Your treatment plan will be tailored to your diagnosis and health goals. Treatment specifics will change as your body begins to heal itself.
For most cases, patients will need to perform a series of exercises at home in between office appointments. It is very important that you take these exercises seriously and apply them to your daily routine. This will help get you to your health goals faster and more effectively. You may also need nutritional supplements and may need to make some dietary changes. Your body is a complex system and the food and nutrition you put into it are of utmost importance. We know dietary changes can be very challenging and we are committed to helping you along the way.
When you are comfortable with the findings and recommendations, treatment can begin and will continue as long as you keep making progress and/or until your health goals are attained. Diligence and communication will help both parties to do the work needed to achieve these goals.
Q: Do you bill insurance?
A: We do not bill insurance companies. Upon request we are able to provide you with a superbill which lists CPT and diagnosis codes, everything you need to submit to your insurance company. Our office will mail your superbill to you on a monthly basis. It is up to each individual to determine whether their insurance plan provides coverage for consultations, supplements and lab tests. Most insurance companies will not reimburse for supplements. Please note that we cannot guarantee reimbursement, it is best to verify coverage with your insurance and inquire about Superbill procedures in order to receive reimbursement in a timely manner before you submit your first bill.
